Beyond the Wash is the music of Patrick O’Donnell, born in Waterford, completed in Cork, soon to be played all over. Part of the Unemployable Promotions roster.
‘Beyond the Wash’ (BTW) is the stage name for his original music. The story behind the title almost requires a backwards reading. The Wash is inspired by a grand and lofty metaphor for life by spiritual philosopher, Alan Watts. The word ‘Beyond’ is supposed to give the reader a sense of hollow substance, it can be read as something comic or something pretentious, a duality that is close to Patrick’s heart.
The debut release from Beyond The Wash has just landed, taken from the ‘Murmurings’ EP (set for release in November on Unemployable Records), here is the wonderful ‘Dusktime’, which was recorded by Christian Best at Monique Studios, Cork, Ireland, and is accompanied by a stunning video. Take a look and pass it on!
Here’s a live acoustic video shot by Robin Guiton, that gives a taster of what is to come on the EP, in ‘Misty Morning’, followed by a choral version of ‘If Only’.
With momentum already building towards the release, Beyond the Wash is starting to turn heads, with upcoming slots in some of Ireland’s best venues, such as Whelan’s (Dublin), Coughlan’s (Cork), and Roisin Dubh (Galway), alongside acts like In The Willows & Tiz McNamara. This is all leading to BTW’s first single release this summer. Keep an eye on this page for more details to come!
